muh new DM3 shirt. :D

I finger-curled my (naturally very curly) hair today.

I feel like I’m from a romantic-gothic time period.

fuckyeahtattoos:

complete; artwork & inked by Steve Lemak of Quillian Tattoo (Allentown, Pennsylvania).

I wanted a tattoo that would embrace my love for astronomy and consciousness of being. I remember years ago realizing the fact that we were made of star stuff when I was watching an episode of Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos” series. Since then, my entire outlook on life has changed. Our ability to experience is so cherishable. I am not one of religion, but the feelings that I experience when I think about our origins, are not unlike spirituality.

“We are part of this universe, we are in this universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts… is that the universe is in us. When I reflect on that fact… many people feel small, cause they’re small and the universe is big, but I feel big! Because, my atoms came from those stars.” - Neil DeGrasse Tyson

This has nothing really to do with the tattoo (which is beautiful btw) but to point out that spirituality and religion are not one in the same.  You can be spiritual (which you are, judging by this description) without being religious, and you can be religious without being spiritual.  Spirituality is something that is hard to define and that some people have very little of, and that others have a lot of.  It’s just a sense of being, and does not necessarily pertain to religion.  Calling it “not unlike spirituality”, in this case, would be true, because it actually is spirituality.

Forgive me, I do not mean to correct or call you something you do not consider yourself to be, but there is a difference between the two, and when I realized that I too recognized a certain deeper level of being, which many would ascertain to a religion but that I cannot, knowing or rather believing that the beauty of life both surrounds us and lives within us: learning about the true meanings of spirituality made me realize I’m a deeply spiritual person, but my “god” is not a deity at all (and certainly no religion), merely every observable thing around us (whereas yours is our star stuff and awesome ability of experience and conscious thought.)  :)  Not a higher being, just a divine one.  One does not need a god to believe that.  <3

Was poring through comments on my tatty through my FYT submission. This fellow Tumblr’er hit the nail on the head. yesyesyes
