damn.

i thought this avocado was ripe.

it’s not.

this is the most unpleasant avocado experience of my life.

WOW I JUST ATE A WHOOOOLE LOTTA GREEN STUFF.

Forreal.

About 2 cups of kale (cooked - kale chips), 1 cup of arugala (in a falafel wrap w/ olive oil/nutritional yeast/soy ginger dressing), and a glass of green smoothie.

ALLLLL THE ENERGY! :DDDDD

I need this shirt in my life.

mother is exasperated with me.

I’ve been vegan for a little over 2 months now (since May 25th, whoa! time’s a flyin’) and have been contemplating recently to start including small amounts of cheese - maybe once a week. So back to vegetarian, possibly. (Well, strict diet, still, the only dairy consumed would be from Kline’s likely, or any other farmer’s market sellers I found appropriate. But say, if I were to go out for dinner - back to vegan)

So, the farm that I really trust, down the street, Kline’s… they take really good care of their animals there, no hormones or crappy feed or anything. I’d just buy cheese from there. But yesterday, mom was going down to the cheese shop, in New Jersey, called Klander’s (sp?). Or something like that. Asked if I wanted to go with, I said no, because I don’t know where their dairy products are from. Cue deep sigh from Mom.

Few minutes ago, she comes and tells me “oh, so I went to Klander’s, asked them where they get their dairy, you wanna know what they said?!” very proud-like. “I dunno Mom, where?” … “Local farms!!” *Pause* I ask, “Which ones?” Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that she is trying! But then she said “I don’t know! Local! Does it matter?” Then I went on explaining that “local” didn’t mean much to me, local could be just about any farm nearby the cheese shop, including places that may not take care of their livestock well, or include hormones and antibiotics in their feed that’s going into MY body!

Needless to say, she just huffed as she walked away, “I didn’t know it mattered!”, then I, “I didn’t know you were going to ask.”

What to Eat - voiced by Jason Schwartzman (by farmsanctuary1)

I think this short video has a lot to say about how factory farming is affecting our world, and how a simple solution that everyone can do is to GO VEGAN!

Veganfrenchtoastadventure is success! (Taken with Instagram)

Seriously though, best french toast I’ve ever made, I’m pretty sure.

- 2 to 3 slices rye bread
- 1 tbsp flaxseed meal, mixed with 3 tbsp water, let sit for two min (subs 1 egg)
- sprinkle of cinnamon
- couple drops of vanilla extract
- mix in some soymilk (I use 8th Continent)
- garnish as desired! (Confectioners sugar & a handful of fresh blueberries is super tasty!)

INTERVENTION WITH SELF.

Looking at all these health blogs today (probably cause I’m sick and feel like shit and foodgasming over healthy things makes me feel better somehow) made me realize…

HOLYSHIT I NEED TO EAT BETTER.

If I’m finally done with the flu tomorrow afternoon, I’m gonna go to the grocery store and pick up a bunch of fruits and vegetables and chop them up to munch on throughout the day. And granola. BUT NO MILK. NO MILK, J-SCHRO. I know you’re thinkin’ it!

I HAVE started eating oatmeal for breakfast instead of nothing. Or cold pizza. Or other stupid unhealthy stuff. Oatmeal is the bombbb. Not that instant Quaker’s oatmeal bullshit either, the boil-over-the-stove kind with cranberries and cinnamon. Mmm.
